Privacy Policy – AI Screen Summarizer
Last Updated: March 2026
Thank you for using AI Screen Summarizer ("we", "our", or "the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and providing complete transparency regarding how your data is handled and how permissions are utilized.
1. Overview
AI Screen Summarizer is an assistive productivity application designed to help users capture, read, and summarize visible content on their screen using AI models. To deliver on-screen summarization and automated scrolling capabilities, the App requests specific Android permissions, including the Accessibility Service API (android.permission.BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE), Display Over Other Apps, and Screen Capture (MediaProjection).
Prominent Disclosure: Accessibility Service Usage (AccessibilityService API)
AI Screen Summarizer uses the Android AccessibilityService API (android.permission.BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE) to provide the Auto-Scroll Summarization feature.
- Purpose and Feature: The Accessibility Service is used exclusively to perform automated scroll gestures (
dispatchGesture) on the screen during the Auto-Scroll Summarization session. When you activate Auto-Scroll, the service scrolls the screen downwards step-by-step so that continuous, multi-page content (such as long articles, feeds, documents, or conversation threads) can be captured and summarized seamlessly without requiring repetitive manual scrolling.
- No Personal Data Collection or Monitoring: The Accessibility Service does NOT collect, record, read, or store any personal data, sensitive user information, passwords, usernames, typing/keystrokes, financial details, or personal communications. It does not monitor or inspect user interactions outside of executing the requested scroll gestures.
- No System Alteration or Interference: The service does not alter user or system settings without permission, does not bypass Android built-in security and privacy controls, and does not interfere with the interface of other applications.
- Explicit User Activation & Control: The Accessibility Service is completely optional and disabled by default. It executes gestures only when you explicitly tap the Auto-Scroll Summarize button. You must manually grant this permission in Android System Settings, and you can disable or revoke it at any time via
Settings > Accessibility > AI Screen Summarizer (Auto-Scroll Service).
2. Information We Collect and How We Access It
We respect your privacy and adhere to the principle of data minimization. We do not collect personal identifying information without your knowledge and consent.
a. Screen Content and OCR Processing
When you initiate a summarization request, the App utilizes Android's standard MediaProjection (Screen Capture) API to take a temporary screenshot of the visible display area. The image is processed on-device using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to recognize visible text. The extracted text is then processed locally or sent securely to AI models solely to generate your requested summary.
- Transient Processing: We do not store, retain, or share your screen content or extracted text beyond the immediate summarization request.
- Explicit Consent: Screen capture is initiated only upon your explicit action (such as tapping the floating capture/summarize button) and requires confirmation via Android's system consent dialog.
- No Advertising or Profiling: Screen content is never used for advertising, user profiling, or third-party tracking.
b. Device and App Performance Diagnostics
To ensure application stability and optimize performance across various Android devices, we may automatically collect anonymous technical information:
- Device model, manufacturer, and Android OS version.
- Aggregated app usage statistics, crash logs, and performance diagnostics (via Google Play Console and Firebase Crashlytics).
3. Permissions Used and Why They Are Needed
a. Accessibility Service (android.permission.BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE)
- Purpose: Used exclusively for the Auto-Scroll Summarization feature to perform automated vertical scroll gestures (
dispatchGesture), enabling seamless multi-page content capture.
- Data Handling: No text, keystrokes, passwords, or personal data are monitored, collected, or stored through this service.
- Control: Inactive unless explicitly triggered by the user; can be turned off at any time in system accessibility settings.
b. Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)
- Purpose: Displays a floating bubble and overlay control panel over other applications, allowing you to trigger summarization, activate auto-scroll, and view AI summary results without switching apps.
- Data Handling: This permission does not collect or inspect data in other applications.
c. Foreground Service & Media Projection (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PROJECTION)
- Purpose: Required by Android to run the screen capture session and floating bubble service reliably in the foreground while providing a persistent system notification.
d. Internet & Network State (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)
- Purpose: Connects to AI summarization APIs, verifies network availability, handles in-app billing verification, and serves advertisements.
e. Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID)
- Purpose: Used by Google AdMob to deliver relevant advertisements and prevent fraud, in compliance with Google Play policies.
4. Third-Party Services
The App integrates trusted third-party SDKs to provide advertising, subscription billing, and performance monitoring. These third parties handle data according to their respective privacy policies:
5. Data Security and Retention
- No Persistent Screen Storage: Screen images and text analyzed during summarization are processed transiently in memory and discarded immediately after the summary is generated.
- Encrypted Transmission: All communications between the App and AI service backends are encrypted using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols.
- No Sale of Data: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data or screen content to third parties.
6. User Control and Permission Revocation
- Accessibility Service: You can disable the Accessibility Service at any time via
Android Settings > Accessibility > AI Screen Summarizer.
- Overlay Permission: You can revoke the "Display over other apps" permission at any time in
Android Settings > Apps > AI Screen Summarizer > Display over other apps.
- Dismiss Floating Bubble: You can close or hide the floating bubble at any time from the app settings or by dragging it to the close area.
- Uninstall: You can uninstall the App at any time to remove all locally stored app data and preferences.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our applications and services are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take prompt corrective action.
